Panayappan's mail to Uncle

dear all.. i am posting a mail sent by Panayappan to Uncle regarding his perception of our centre. Uncle feels that it has a significance and needs to be shared with all. i have taken the liberty of applying a few corrections with uncle's permission.

Pranams Uncle,

I wanted to share a thought about our centre from my perspective. I have titled this as 'The Mother's Workshop', as it would be simple and self-explanatory

The Mother’s workshop.

Appa Sri Karmayogi’s vision is that all centres should become an ashram and all devotees house should become a centre.

At present (except a few like our centre) most of the centres have a dedicated place. Most of them have service chart and time table of who to do what and when. All activities are properly planned and executed. Apart from devotees who already know and others who are willing to know about Sri Aurobindo and The Mother there are not many people visiting the centre. A few of them are inspired and continue to come and others leave.

A house is different from a centre. It will be difficult or rather less easy for a devotee to maintain or execute activities at home as executed in a centre. There might be others at home who might resist. Varity of incidents, family affairs, a sense of belonging, varity of guests visiting home and many more (which are beyond my level) might disturb the functioning like a centre. At the same time without avoiding/neglecting them, it is the consecration and dedication of a devotee that makes his house a centre. Because we have to accept things as it comes.

Like how Sri Aurobindo’s ashram was considered by The Mother and Sri Aurobindo as a workshop for any major change to happen on this earth i.e., any change to happen in the world would have to happen (initiated and executed) within the ashram. Similarly, from my perspective, I see our centre as The Mother’s Workshop where She is doing many experiments for a centre to evolve from devotee’s home. An evolution. The day when our centre (also being your house) becomes perfect in all aspects, from that day on numerous devotee's houses will become functionally a centre. I compare this with the Superamental Day (29-Feb-1956). The day after ‘Pon Olli’, the golden light reaching the earth (the scene which Mother envisioned when she was in the play ground) there is a remarkable growth in mankind. Similarly, the day after Mother completes Her experiments in our centre, the transformation of devotee’s houses as centres will be fast.
